This weekend (easter weekend) marks the 40 day mark of Larry's mother's passing. We gathered with family and friends to celebrate the amazing woman that was Seung Kim.
Today Jean (Larry's Sister) and I went wedding dress shopping. It was great, we went to David's bridal and checked out various types, fabrics and designs. Who knew that wedding dress shopping could be so much fun! AND who knew that I would actually look pretty good in a strapless dress (not me!)
I got a little teary eyed thinking of our wedding and thinking of Larry's mom. I had to fill out some paperwork and descriptives of our family for my dress appointment and when the space for #of mother's/grandmothers came up and it ripped my heart out to just write the number 1.
Thinking of Sue, which I often do whenever I look at my ring, I asked Jean to teach me how to make this fish dish that Larry's mom always made for us. So we got the ingredients and will be making it this afternoon. There is so much that I wish I could have learned from her. So much that I would have liked to know...but I guess I can get these stories whenever I want from Larry, his sister and his Dad.

Love Flying Caballos Ranch for a wedding site
Today we had the pleasure of meeting up with Jolene the property manager of Flying Caballos ranch to tour the property. It is such a great venue for weddings...a little off the main road and nestled in Edna Valley with enough privacy to enjoy your wedding day.
Definitely on the top of our list!

Valentines Day, Car Shopping + Wedding Venue Search
Today we spent our Valentines day venue shopping and car shopping. Last week, my family and I were in a car accident and Larry's car was totaled :(
Long story short... there was a car stopped in front of us at a light, didn't go on green and someone hit us at 50 mph from behind. Everyone is safe, even our 13 year old Dalmatian Patches who was thrown through the back windshield upon impact.
So in addition to venue shopping for the wedding, car shopping and spending a wonderful Valentines weekend with my fiance things are as good as to be expected.
Our day started with a yummy breakfast made by yours truly, then a stop @ Tiber Canyon Ranch which has some great potential for a wedding venue and within 10 miles from our house. Then we stopped at The Flying Caballos Ranch, which we have an appointment to see tomorrow. Some quick test drives (Jetta Sport Wagon, Honda Element, and Honda Ridgeline) and then a stop at New Frontiers.
Our evening finished with a wonderful Valentines Dinner made with love by Larry and myself. Larry and I made an awesome steak, lobster tail, potatoes au gratin, and fresh roasted beet salad.

Small and Sweet
My latest idea has been to do the wedding at Larry's parents house in Hollywood. They live in hills by the Hollywood sign and have a killer view of the city all the way to Santa Monica. On a clear day you can see the ocean. It is really breathtaking.

The house is actually a really neat tri-level house filled with his mom's art work and beautiful furnishings.

If we did this option the ceremony would be very small and intimate and then we would gather maybe for a picnic at the Griffith Observatory or a formal reception at the Autry Natural Center all within a 10-15 minute drive of the house.
--I like the picnic idea (which I borrowed from my sister), we would save by not having to pay any venue fees and could splurge on cute picnic baskets full of goodies for our guests (which could double as wedding favors).
Realistically I think this is just a cute idea...

Wedding Site Blues
Larry and I have been searching high and low for wedding sites. I think we have narrowed down where we want to have the wedding which would be somewhere in San Luis Obispo County, but need a venue for close to 200 people.
We are thinking of a Fall wedding anywhere from late August to maybe Early November.
Things I'm checking out this week:
-San Luis Obispo Botanical Gardens off of Highway 1 by Dairy Creek Golf Course.
-Figueroa Mountain Ranch by Los Olivos
-Tiber Canyon Ranch, Olive Oil farm in SLO
So for now here are pictures of my engagement ring! This was the exact ring that Larry's dad proposed to his mother with, no changes to it at all. The best part is that it fits me perfectly!
I love it!
